The Snook bite was really intense for about an hour while fishing with Garrett in his awesome fishing spot. This is the same area that we fished twice during the day and caught a lot of mangrove snapper on shrimp. Our plan was to try and get some live mullet to fish with, but once again we failed. The baitfish just are not as thick as usual due to the red tide issues south west Florida has had over the past four months.
If you watched the daytime videos I'm sure you noticed the really big barge that was anchored next to the seawall and about fifty yards away from the bridge. While we were slamming some Snook, catching Ladyfish and hooking into small Tarpon, we heard something really loud break loss from the vessel. Within about thirty seconds the wind and current had moved the barge a considerable distance. Without hesitation, me and Garrett agreed that we needed to call 911.
We made the call and continued fishing. While Garrett was getting a small Mangrove Snapper off the hook his phone started ringing. This was the second call since he'd called 911. The short of the story, no authorities ever came to the location over a period of an hour and fifteen minutes to an hour and a half. We left and have no idea if the coastguard or police ever showed up to check out the situation.
This was an awesome night of snook fishing with shrimp from the seawall with Garrett one that i will never forget for sure!
