There's really no big secret to catching whiting along the shores of South West Florida beaches. All you need is a fishing rod spooled up with eight to ten pound test line, a one ought hook (circle preferred) and some medium sized shrimp. I also use a couple of small split shots for weights when I'm surf fishing in the Gulf of Mexico.
In this how to video I demonstrate what I believe is the best way to fillet a fish. This method works on just about any kind of fish. There's a special technique I introduce in this video for getting the skin off of fish fillets that works great.
How to cook whiting:
1. Get a small to medium sized fry pan
2. Put a generous about of olive oil in the pan
3. Heat until oil mildly smokes over medium heat
4. Dip fillets in egg and roll in specially seasoned flour mixture
5. Cook your whiting fillets until the batter turns to a golden light medium brown
So that pretty much it, bait your small hook with shrimp, cast the surf along the beach, catch the whiting, fillet the fish and the fry them up for dinner.
